Trust your gut. Also, read the negative reviews on Glassdoor. Alongside this terrible experience I had, the reviews speak volumes. I think I'll describe my negative experience via bullet points. - Email #1: Recruiter addressed to the wrong person. Message also asked me to send my resume that was attached to my initial application. -Email #2: Recruiter sent follow up email with "CORRECTION" in the header with no mention of actual correction. She did, however, ask if I'd gotten her previous message from an hour prior. -Email thread paraphrased: Recruiter: Can we talk today? Me: No. I have meetings but I'm happy to schedule a time with you. R: What salary do you want? R: What salary do you want and what time do you want to chat tomorrow? Me: Here's my availability. What's Gannett's salary range? R: CALL ME TOMORROW AT TIME. -Phone call: I, the applicant, called her, the recruiter. She did not answer the phone. -Text message 10 minutes later from recruiter: I'm busy now. Can you call me tomorrow? -Text message from me: I'm available at TIME. Please call me if that works for you. -Phone call #2: Ok experience. Didn't know my name when she called me and asked me who SHE was calling. Was asked more about my employment history than my skill set. I've been working at the same job for 4+ years but kept focusing on my temp work from almost 10 years ago. Also kept reminding me that this was not a work from home position. Never thought it was. -Phone call #3: Recruiter called me and immediately asked, "What's your name?" When I told her, she said, "Oh. I wanted to tell you that your information was forwarded to the hiring manager." This was an obvious wrong number call. *crickets* Was hoping to get a chance to share this experience with a hiring manager before withdrawing from the candidate pool. This was such a bad experience that even with decent pay, I don't think it would be worth it. I'd put her name here if I knew it wouldn't get my entire post deleted.
