First you get an email (after applying at the USPS website) that you can go take a test to see if you score high enough (easy test consisting of matching address mistakes), then you go to a group interview where they tell you all of the perils of delivering mail, then you go to one-on-one interviews where they get a feel for your background and what your looking for and they ask you about your driving and criminal history (no bad driving record and no criminal history allowed). You are then sent home where you wait (I waited about 3.5 weeks) for them to contact you about employment. You then pay yourself to get a drug test done and come in for a 3 day paid orientation (this is technically your first day) (very long 3 days proceeded by a driving test, a shadow day, and then, finally, a real first day at your assigned office)
