As an officer candidate applying to enter the naval nuclear power training path, the interviews were more technically oriented. All the candidates met with multiple engineers and then had a final interview with the head of the program, kind of like the COO. You found out a few weeks later, as I recall. It's an unusual and rigorous process which has proven successful for over 50 years.

Difficult due to the complexity of the process. There are numerous requirements and processes that you need to go through that are not clearly outlined. Additionally you must pass a long series of medical examinations in order to be cleared to enter the service.

The most direct process is that you have to be a college graduate with bachalars degree from an accredited institution. You also have an oportunity to recieve a scholarship to attend college using Navy funding with a commit to serving a min of 4 years for the college degree. If you decide to enlist in the Navy first there are a number of commission programs that you would could apply to become an officer after a certain period of time on your enlisted time.
