You approach recruiters at any station, and can begin the dialogue and learning about what options are available to you. You will take an ASVAB test to determine your cursory knowledge of mathematics, English, science, mechanics and logic. Based on your scores, you enter into Delayed Entry until you go to boot camp.

They asked me about my history with drugs, violence, law enforcement and education.
You take an aptitude test that leads to what the Navy thinks you are capable of as far as job placement. Depending on how high your score on the test the more technical the job. Scoring high allows for you to gain the most as far as options to choose from job-wise.

The test asks questions regarding simple and complex problem solving, math, science, and English skills.
You take the same test that all recruits take. A decent understanding of all 10th grade level subjects will probably get you the max score. Take a few practice tests first. Choose your rate, choose your fate are words to live by.

Once you max the test all enlisted jobs are open depending on past history, criminal record or spoken.

There is no interview outside of qualifying for your rate (job) on the ASVAB and passing your medical evaluations at MEPS. Your recruiter may ask you qualifying questions initially to determine if you qualify to join the armed forces.
