6 months between submitting my application and being asked to interview. Interview was 30 minutes, basic questions about your background and what you know about USGS and the work they do. Total time from app submission to start date was almost 8 months.

Two people panel interview, consisted of the branch manager and another branch manager. Mostly asked behavioral questions and one - two technical questions. Technical questions were mostly yes or no questions

There are many different groups in the area so the interview process varies by group. Typically there is a phone interview. If the phone interview goes well, there is an in person interview and you get the chance to talk with everyone in the office.

You have to get through the HR screening process to even get to interview with the hiring manager. Vets get bonus points and priority when applying. Usually the supervisor who you will be working under and someone from HR will interview you.
