Lengthy interview process, but reasonable: 1) Recruiter, 2) Team lead, 3) Team members, 4) Hiring manager. Things went well and I was offered the job.
Here's the wrinkle, this was advertised as a fully remote option job, which I was more than up front in stating that as a requirement with the recruiter at the beginning of the process and with the hiring manager, which was ok with them. After the job offer, I was told it had to go through a "remote work" approval, which was taking a bit of time. It culminated with the recruiter telling me leadership has been cooking up a plan to not bring in more remote hires and want staff onsite (it is unclear whether they will be calling existing remote staff into the office). I am extremely disappointed to have been taken for such a ride and to have had my time wasted so vicariously. Not to knock the recruiter or hiring manager, if they were truly blindsided by this initiative, as they were great through the brunt of the process. Other than that, things went quite well. I did get a sense from some of my interviewers, who came from the legacy Ultimate Software side, that things have been going down hill since the Kronos acquisition/merger, as far culture, etc.
The surprise at the end about not being able to work remotely has left a sour taste in my mouth and it is a huge red flag. Steer clear of this company, unless its leadership gets their act together.
