Had an phone interview with recruiter Al Short. He was very friendly, conversational, and upbeat. We talked for over an hour (much longer than the allotted time) because things really went well. He was very impressed that I did a thorough review of the company and new many important statistics regarding their viewership. He assured me that he would more than favorably send my candidacy onto the hiring manager as she trusted his judgement since Al was instrumental in getting her hired. Less than two days later I received an email that I was no longer a candidate which was surprising and disappointing.
