      Entretien pour Business Development Manager

      22 sept. 2023
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      Berlin
      Aucune offre
      Expérience négative
      Entretien moyen

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez TrustYou (Berlin) en août 2023

      Entretien

I decided to withdraw my application 15 min after having a call with TA manager/ HR. Wasn't a pleasurable interview for sure. I am an experienced AM/CSM. The role I interviewed for is BDM covering UK and Nordics markets. TA/HR started the call with asking about the weather, standard small talk topic and she seemed nice then. But afterwards, my impressions totally changed. 1. She never cracked a smile. She looked unhappy. 2. I have 5 years experience in AM/CSM and assumptions have been made - She asked why I should be considered, since I "didn't have experience in hospitality, BDM or UK and Nordics market". I told her that I do in fact have experience with UK and Nordics customers. Why would she assume that, why didn't she directly ask if I have experience with these markets? I've never said with which markets I haven't or have worked with. Her assumption was based because I am coming from an Eastern European country so I worked only with EEU customers, when I was in fact covering EMEA market focusing on UK and DACH mainly (Nordics as well but not in top 2) 3. She asked "why do you think you can do the job, it is more difficult than being an AM?" to which I politely replied after explaining why I think I can be a good BDM that AM and CSM is not necessarily easier. There are a lot of customers expectations to be met or adjusted, keeping them engaged and retain them is a difficult job especially if you've worked with "nice to have" products. I thought to myself that this is an extremely unprofessional question. Unless you've been in the role, I don't think you can compare them and structure your question like that. 4. I've had my fair share of interviews and this is the first time someone asked me when I graduated uni (I've disclosed that which year in my CV) and if I really had my first job (stated in my CV) during my studies. I don't think I am the only person ever who've worked while being in university. I didn't know what that question come from but it had negative energy around it. Overall, it was a painful experience, I definitely expected more empathy, tactics and professionalism from a TA/HR person since they are the first person who represent the company's employer brand. I don't think being judgmental is the right approach in today's market either. It felt that she was there to put me down and to judge with her questions instead of actually getting to know me as a candidate. Salary ranges were low. I asked for a base salary of 60-65.000 EUR and it is above their budget. She never shared a brief bonus system - that's also suspicious.
