Very traditional process. Began with a phone screening, several phone interviews followed by several face-to-face interviews. (I would be relocating for this position). The process went smoothly, the culture seemed collaborative and driven (they were undergoing some major transformation) which I liked.
I was kept well informed until the end. I was communicated to on a Monday that all feedback was very positive and they were "working on the details of the offer" and they would be in contact within a week.
They did contact me the following Monday and indicated they were no longer going to offer me the position. They reinforced that with the fact that they loved me and wanted to find a fit for me but wanted someone with stronger leadership experience.
Needless to say I was devastated. I still think it is a great company; I'm not sure where the communications broke down (between the hiring manager and the recruiter or between the recruiter and me) but would definitely recommend better expectations management.
