General introductory web developer interview, questions about work history, tech stack, etc.
They asked to completed some kind of front end challenge. I agreed, they sent over the details.
The challenge was to make a desktop layout into a responsive layout.
The file they sent was a sketch/figma file for one of their clients that they have an active contract with.
The clients current website doesn't look anything like the desktop layout design they sent.
I asked them if this was one of their clients and if they have an active contract. They did not respond for 24 hours. They responded that it is one of their clients and that they have an active contract with them.
I then immediately did not respond to the employer any further because they are attempting to get work done for via their interview process, without compensating developers for their time. This is wrong and they don't deserve your time.
Thank you for your feedback. Any exercise performed by a job candidate is hypothetical to gauge capabilities and proficiencies and does not serve as a paid or usable product. This is routine when we interview and hire developers - any other way would be unethical.

Seamless. I was given one assignment as a form of figma file and plenty of time to complete and submit it. The final round was an in person interview to meet the team and also look at the space at Trainor.
