      Entretien

I applied for a store manager position. I received a call from the regional manager setting an appt for an interview. Unfortunately I contracted Covid and didn’t go. 3 months went by I received another call from TS stating they had my application and that I would be great running this sales and delivery part. We spoke for a good 40 minutes over the phone. The manager I spoke to agreed I would go for an interview the next morning at 9am. The next morning I arrived for my interview 15 min early just to look around store. I asked for the manager at 8:50 am. About 5 min later a lady walked up and introduced herself as did I. She proceeded to tell me I was late. I said no mam we discussed 9am. Apparently she got her times mixed up. I followed her to the office as the interview began. She had my resume in her hand and said I had an impressing resume. Well right off the bat she says I did some digging on you last night. I said ok (I’ve been a Dollar Tree SM for the last five years and have been at the top of my district since I started)She said I spoke to some people that know you. I was thinking she spoke with my previous employees or my asst managers. The things she said I did like cussing at my employees hollering over customers was so far from the truth. At that moment I was disgusted. You do not become the top store in your district by doing that. I’m very OCD so my store was impeccable. I asked her the names and she declined. I explained to her that I didn’t know these people nor did I work with them so in my opinion it was here say and shouldn’t affect my opportunity for this job. I asked her if I could speak to the district manager and she said he couldn’t be reached. At that moment I found out she was an asst manager filling in for SM until they could find a new one. I asked her was that position still open because I applied for that job. When I said that she looked at me and said well we get dirty here and I don’t think that’s a good fit. (I was dressed nicely) I said ok what does that mean. If anyone has ever worked for Dollar Tree, we get dirty!! That rubbed me the wrong way. She finally offered me a part time cashier position and explained that I could move up from that. It’s been about 5 mos now. She’s still the asst manager.
