I was brought into their office and everything was very cordial and inviting until I sat down with one of the realtors for the interview. Beyond being unwilling to pay a living wage for the position ($15/hour is NOT a reasonable wage for any Graphic Designer, no matter how junior the role), the interviewer swore frequently and actually asked me if I went to church. When I replied "no" he seemed to lose interest and asked questions very quickly with little regard to the answers I was giving.
The rest of the interview consisted of a math test (?) and an InDesign test where they had you try to recreate as much of an advertisement as possible in 10 minutes. The rest of the staff was very professional and friendly.
I never received a call back, something I was told I would get just to let me know if I had gotten the job or not. I even emailed them to check on the status of my application after I saw that they had reposted the job, but got no response.
I have little doubt that I was not hired because I don't go to a church, or at the very least, failed to give the answer that he was looking for. I am also considering filing a human rights complaint, as some might see that as discrimination. I know I certainly do.
