I was an internal candidate and was approached by the hiring manager about the open position. I wasn’t aware of the position until he notified me. I felt like a preferred candidate, but didn’t want to assume anything. I applied for the position and had an informal meeting with the hiring manager to learn more about the position. After our meeting, I received a phone call from human resources. They interviewed me via phone for about 15 minutes and said a formal interview would be scheduled soon. The formal interview was with the hiring manager and another manager. The entire process took about 6 weeks – that seems to be the norm. After the formal interview, I had another informal meeting with the hiring manager to further discuss the position. I was offered the position shortly after and accepted.
