I applied online, which was a basic job application and a personality test, and I immediately received the automated e-mail requesting me to call and set up an interview. I was able to interview the next day. When I got to the store, I checked in at the cash wrap and was asked to look around the store while the manager prepared. Meanwhile, several of the employees watched me super closely while I browsed, making snarky comments to each other the whole time. When the manager finally came out from the back for the interview, he didn't seem prepared at all; he couldn't even remember my name. Nevertheless, the interview took place in a back corner of the store. Naturally, the same rude employees watched me the entire time, giggling and commenting in the background. The manager asked me some basic questions about school and my future plans, but I couldn't help but feel like a total interruption for him. His mind was obviously elsewhere, and he made it very clear to me that he would rather be doing anything else in the world than conducting an interview. He didn't pay attention to what I had to say, rushed my answers, and hardly even made eye contact with me. I even noticed that he was sort of rude to some of the customers in the store after we had finished the interview, which didn't last more than three minutes. I left the store feeling like I had done something wrong, and I was incredibly mortified. I got an e-mail four days later letting me know that I had not gotten the job. I can't say I was surprised, and by that point, I wasn't even sure I wanted to work there anymore. I wasn't even sure I wanted to shop there anymore, and I did actually stop shopping there until they recently swapped managers. I may apply there again now that I know I would be interviewing with someone else, but the experience has really left a bad taste in my mouth all together.
