Submitted my resume and then was asked to do a 2-hour assessment on CodeSignal. The assessment was mostly algorithmic questions, and one question about querying a REST API.
After I completed the assessment they scheduled me for a 30-minute interview. After we'd talked for a few minutes he asked me for my salary expectations and it turned out that they couldn't come anywhere near my current salary, at which point he ended the call.
In retrospect it's pretty terrible form to have someone do a 2-hour coding assessment before they've even had a chance to speak to a human being at the company, and I should have refused. Instead they wasted 2+ hours of my time just to find out the pay is too low.
