I initially applied online - I was contacted by Terracon to be a field technician for them, but at an office 50 miles from my house (there were 3 offices that were closer). Initially, I was reluctant, but this was in the middle of the Great Recession and I needed a decent job. The interview was fairly easy, my resume spoke for itself and I was offered a position, but at a lower rate of pay then my qualifications rated. I took the position and figured I could work my way up to a more industry-standard rate within a year or two.
