      Entretien

In February 2023, I applied for a professorship position that proved to be very demanding, as it required an extensive dossier. The application process involved writing around 25 pages, in addition to submitting copies of some of my research papers, for a total of approximately 70 pages. The dossier comprised several components, including my CV, cover letter, past research, research proposals, teaching experience, teaching proposals, and tables. To complete the dossier, I dedicated almost two months of work after my regular job, working late at night while everyone else was sleeping. Given my profile and experience, which were a close match for the position, I expected to receive an interview or at least some feedback. However, the only response I received was a standard rejection email. This lack of consideration was quite disrespectful, especially after the significant effort I put into the application. I have some concerns about the application process, such as whether they genuinely reviewed my dossier, or if the position was a mere formality for someone already in their pipeline. Although I don't want to make unfounded accusations, it's a possibility that crossed my mind. I also find it strange that they ask for detailed research proposals from all applicants, not just shortlisted candidates. This practice raises concerns about the potential for idea theft, and I plan to keep an eye on their published research to ensure that nobody appropriates my ideas. In light of my experience, I strongly advise against applying to TP. It is likely that you will spend a significant amount of time and effort without even receiving feedback, even if you possess qualifications and research experience that are closely aligned with the position.
