      Entretien

I applied online on 9/15/2011 and received a phone call from Target later that same day. I had an interview the next day (9/16). I went in and was asked to take a test at a Kiosk that asked basic, "How would you react in this situation with a customer or co-worker?" questions. After that I was asked to wait for about fifteen minutes or so, then was called back for a one-on-one interview. The guy that interviewed me was really nice and laid back. I had practiced questions that I looked up on this website beforehand, and it was sooooooo helpful. The questions were mainly based on past experiences, so it's super helpful to have a lot of examples in mind beforehand. A couple that I hadn't prepared for, but still did okay on were: Name a time you helped someone. What was the situation, behaviors involved, and result? Tell me about a time when you realized after completing a project that you had made a mistake. What did you do about it? I ended up using my conflict resolution answer for the helping someone else question, and it was fine. After my first interview, they checked to make sure the hours I had marked were correct. I asked if I could change from part-time to full-time, and they said that was not a problem at all, and changed the information on the sheet from 20 hr max/wk to 40 hr max/wk. After that, the man took me to the Human Resources lady, who asked me basically the same kind of questions. After she finished filling out her paper, she asked me about my leadership experience and if I would feel comfortable leading a team of four or five people. We talked for a while, then she said they wanted to offer me the job, and that the starting pay would be $7.50/hr, with a performance review and chance for a raise and promotion in 90 days. She gave me some paperwork to take to the drug testing lab at a separate location, and said they would call and let me know when orientation would begin - probably on 9/20/2011. Overall it was a great experience. Everyone was super nice, and everyone I saw seemed happy to be working there, and like they liked their jobs - which is one of the reasons I wanted to work at Target. The best advice I can give is really practice the interview questions, and prepare your situational examples ahead of time, because it can be difficult to try to think of an example right on the spot. I spent an hour before the interview practicing, but a couple of hours probably would have been much better.

Applied online and got a call a few days later for an in person interview. I was interviewed twice, and told I got the job and they would call me back to schedule training. They never called back.

This was part of a mass hiring event, and I was asked a series of the usual, standard interview questions. Unfortunately, the interviewer did not seem happy to be there, and that may have affected the process. Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus, so emphasize that.

Applied online, was contacted four days later for an interview. Came in for the interview about 15 minutes dressed nicely and waited a little while for the team leader to interview me, like many of the reviews online say if you don't get a second interview you most likely didn't get the job. Luckily I advanced to the second interview with the executive team leader (ETL) where he also asked me a few questions. At the end he said I would be contacted within a day, good or bad, which made me a little anxious I read online that a lot of people were offered it right on the spot. The next day I got a call early in the morning where I was asked to come in, I did so thinking I was getting a job when I talked to another ETL but over a different department. He explained that they had no positions left in the original department I applied for which was logistics (Back of the store) and said that the former ETL guy suggested I'd be a better fit to work in his department. (Front of the house) I agreed because I was just eager to get a job and he was ecstatic about it. Although it wasn't the original position I had applied for he and everyone else on the team look like they'll be fun to work with. After he said he was giving me a job offer he took me to HR where the lady sent in my background check and scheduled me for orientation. SIDENOTE: It's hard to find reviews where people have had second interviews but weren't offered a job offer right away on glassdoor, I thought I was one of the few who had not been considered but I was so even if you think you may not have done good if you weren't asked right away and instead told you'd be contacted keep on to the chance that you will get it. The interview questions on here are also a bunch that will be asked in the interview to help prepare. Good Luck!
