I had a phone screen which was short and pleasant. They liked what they heard so they invited me in for a face-to-face. This comprised of half an hour with HR/hiring people and two/two-and-half hours of technical tests/interviews with the head of engineering and a senior engineer. The technical test was reviewing a piece of code, a .NET RESTful API and noting the mistakes, suggesting improvements, etc, followed by a lengthier technical interview about my career, accomplishments, etc. The final stage was a meeting with the CTO-CEO.
I thought I had done well, but the reply came back negative, as they were looking for someone to promote to a team lead position within a few months- apparently, personality wise they didn't think I would be a good fit, this is fair enough.
Only black spot was that the external recruiter they used was fairly useless. Apart from sending me to the company's previous offices from which they had moved, there was an overall lack of professionalism in their approach.
