I was invited to a screening call, which went well, then a further conversation with another senior engineer.
This was alright, but the impression was that the chaos was to be embraced as it was a "start up" and that it was expected to be 5 days in the office, and "most people" work 9am-8pm.
I had to prod the rec for an update, then an on-site was scheduled. Completed a coding exercise, then a systems design exercise and finally joined a daily scrum call. All fairly disjointed, everyone seems to be scrambling around. The call was a mess of talking about recent bugs, and it's not that apparent who the leads are.
A second on-site to meet the CTO, who was clearly busy with handling hundreds of small problems, didn't ask any particularly difficult questions, mostly just talked about the product.
After a week I had to poke HR again, and got a canned rejection reply without any further details.
Not disappointed in hindsight given the messy and possibly toxic work environment.
