      Spoke with several employees who asked me the standard sort of development questions. Office was extremely warm. It was spring but they either weren’t running the AC or had it set to 80. They told me that they work on a 45 hour work week (which doesn’t include lunch — if you want to take time for lunch, you’ll need to add time to that 9 hour work day). I guess the standard 40 hours a week wasn’t enough for them, but they were offering pay comparable to what I’d get working just 40 hours a week elsewhere. They also mentioned their “pension plan” which was really a 401k, NOT a pension plan. I was given a tour of the office and surprised to find extremely outdated furniture. Chairs from the ‘80s with no back support, and people had tables, not desks. I could only imagine working 45 hours a week with those chairs. The people looked miserable. In one area, the tension was palpable. It felt like a fight was about to break out. The employees in that area looked visibly ANGRY. It was an extremely negative environment. I received an email from them a few months later offering me a contract role. It had ended up in my junk mail folder, which was the perfect place for it. I ignored it. This company is always looking for developers, which, after visiting their office, leads me to believe they have high turnover.

As the head of HR, I am so sorry that we left a negative impression with you or failed to explain our policies in any way - that certainly was not our intention. We strive to create a very positive environment at Syncro and pride ourselves on our outstanding team of engineers, and our very low turnover. As we continue to grow, our expanding portfolio of projects has us continually looking for top talent to join our team. Our staff averages a standard 40 hour workweek allowing them flexibility to meet project goals while maintaining a healthy work life balance. Nonetheless, it is both good and helpful to hear your perspective as a candidate, because it gives us an opportunity to improve for future candidates. We will be taking your feedback into consideration as we look to improve our interview process. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review about your experience.

      Submitted application and had a brief discussion with two employees. A few months later with no communication, had a formal interview with two other employees. They said they would get back to me with a decision in the coming week, but alas more months go by and no response. Finally decided to ask about any update and got left on read. All around poor communication and poor professionalism. Complete waste of time.
