      Entretien

I applied online and was contacted the next day by email informing me that prior to an interview, the next step in the recruitment process would be an assignment that would take around 3 hours to complete and to let them know if I was still interested. I replied yes and was then sent the assignment which was an excel sheet that I had to fill out with information on two hotels and a particular suite. We were not allowed to ask questions but fill it out to the best of our ability. I used their websites and even called the hotels to clarify certain information I could not find. I even found an error on one hotel's website regarding an incorrect phone number. After submitting by assignment, I was contacted two days later saying I would not be moving forward in the interview process. When I asked for some feedback on my application and assignment results, I was told "although our team was impressed with your database management experiences, we are looking for someone who has more experience in the tech or hospitality industry and with a bit more attention to detail in the assignment." They should never have asked me to waste 3 hours of my time if this was the case. If my resume didn't have the industry experience, why was I asked to complete an assignment and not dismissed right away? And after thoroughly filling out the excel sheet and finding a mistake on the hotel's website, I doubt my "attention to detail" was really a huge issue, after all, there was little instruction and this job would include training when the position started. This is just another example of companies asking ridiculous tasks from potential candidates only to waste their time in the end. This is becoming a trend and it needs to stop.
