The application questions were the best I've ever seen. Most organizations shy away from asking about personal practices such as daily practice, meditation, and doing the work to be someone committed to their personal development. I love that Storied went there. It says a lot about the heart of the company and the culture they are building. Some may find this intrusive, too private, but the way they pursue the topic is non-judgmental and done in a very appropriate way.
They also asked a question about Deliberately Development Organizations. I've not seen any other company use that term. I had to look it up but found that it came from two authors I'm a huge fan of Kegan and Lahey, who are doing some of the best work out there on organizational development.
The questions during the interview were a blend of culture-fit and directly related to prior work experience and skills. I've never had so much fun responding to interview questions.
The Process;
1) Application Online
2) Request for interview: Great communication, succinct, and they provided me with collateral about the company, including a free copy of the founder's audiobook (which was great and gave me insight into the DNA of the company). No other company I've interviewed with has done something like this.
3) Interview: I did only an initial interview that was about 30-45 minutes long
4) Timely follow-up
Though I was not selected to go on to a second interview, I believe that I'm a better person for have interacting with Storied Inc.
