      Entretien

I was mostly interviewed by management and directors, there were four of them in the loop and two senior engineers. Engineers never interviewed me without a manager or director present. I was asked five design questions and one psudo-coding question, it was a very strange and repetitive interview. At the end they called me on the phone to turn me down for the position, and said that I "didn't do automation the same way they did" which is not constructive or useful feedback to give via a recruiter. It's also very odd feedback to give, as I can learn any sort of automation style that a company does very quickly. I wasn't asked a single question about automation during the interview and have been considered an expert in my field at fortune 500 companies, with over a decade of experience. They told me a few times that I was really strong in systems, even though that's actually my weakness and they didn't ask any deep questions about that either. It felt like I was never given a fair chance during my interview, as I answered all of the questions I was asked perfectly. For as much as they talk about diversity, it seemed like my application was denied before I interviewed because I don't fit within the normal demographics in tech. I found it odd too that they never asked for references to chat with them about my automation skills and learning speed if that was their actual concern, as I could have provided several strong ones including upper management and founders of previous companies. I think at the end they thought they could insult me a bit and offer me a lower position with a lot less pay, even though I never applied for that position and it would look silly on my resume 15+ years into my career.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

How would you design a system that automatically setup databases for customers? How would you architect a web crawler from scratch? Without using any open source tools, how would you setup a database? Make sure you practice with a white board before going into the interview, as they expect you to be able to use it fluently during the interview with about a 5 minute warning.
