      Entretien

      Did not appreciate a spontaneous phone interview full of technical questions. An extremely unusual and somewhat unprofessional tactic. Next round, questions were all about process and the discussion did not seem to relate to the job spec at all. They advertised for an engineer but are clearly looking for a unicorn.

A brief phone call can be an efficient way for both sides to quickly confirm suitability before moving to the next stage. Without this step, it’s possible to set aside a longer interview slot, only to find a misalignment within the first minute or so. I apologise if we didn’t check in to confirm it was a good time to speak; we’ll make sure we’re clearer on this in future. On the topic of questions: we include a range to ensure that skills and expectations align for long-term collaboration and to gain insights into your potential career path. While we try to make the intent behind each question clear, we understand it may not always seem directly related to the role.       Outlined for 30 minutes chat, went on for 1h15m. General technical discussion. Both interviewers admitted they didn't know how to adequately hire staff. Had relayed my salary expectations within the range advertised and they accepted that, then went on to state that even if I had given text book answers I wouldn't have gotten the amount I had asked for. As the interview neared the end, asked what the absolute minimum amount of money that I would work for was. Refused to give an answer and they offered a graduate salary. Avoid like the plague.
