      Entretien pour Senior Product Manager

      Entretien

Quick call/email with the recruiter that expressed interest in me after I submitted a resume online a week earlier. Then a call with the hiring manager. That set up an afternoon of interviews (3) at their office in Seattle. The main reason I'm writing this review and why I would give it negative marks is I feel they wasted my time. The first "interview" with the hiring manager, was 90% of him talking. Should have listened to my gut, but the role sounded interesting and the company is doing some cool things. I then went into their offices and interviewed really well with 2-3 folks. Then met in-person with the hiring manager. Still a lot of talking from him, but finally got around to asking some questions. It became clear I wasn't the right fit for what he was looking for. Could have saved everyone a lot of time if he would have focused more on that first call. I was frustrated with the experience. 6 weeks from applying to the rejection letter, and a fair amount of time in between with correspondence, company research, taking time off, personnel research (LinkedIn), and thank you notes. Bottom line, I invested valuable time in something that could have been spent more productive elsewhere, as could the team that I interview with, had the manager focused upfront on the needs he had versus his self aggrandizement.

      Question 1

It was a year ago, so I'm not recalling specific questions. Pretty standard stuff, "tell me about a time when", "explain how you work with developers/engineers", "share a bit about a project you are proud of"

First round interview was with recruiter and pretty straight. Made it to second round interview with the hiring manager and thought that went decently well. I never heard back from them and was ghosted. No follow up email of any kind from the company.

Very good process and I love the experience of presenting a business process diagram. The questions were very situational experienced based on the role. Great feedback at the end of each interview panel.

Overall, the role sounded incredible and exactly what I was looking for in my next career move. However, the interview process left me with nothing but red flags due to the lack of professionalism and proactive communication from the team. Though I had mostly great conversations with the team, 2 of the 7 people that interviewed me immediately told me they hadn't prepared or even looked at my resume. During my 7th and final interview, I was told it was between me and another candidate. Then, I was ghosted. I contacted the recruiter and hiring manager more than once and wasn't provided feedback or a final decision on the status of the role. As of posting, it's been two weeks since my final interview. I'm just floored that a company of this size couldn't even muster a canned "we're moving in a different direction" email response after seven interviews of my time. ETA: I finally heard from the hiring manager and the recruiter apparently left the company. So, there was certainly some lack of process and communication going on. Nevertheless, it was nice to get some clarity on what happened and why I was never informed of the status of my final interview.
