I spoke over the phone with a person who said they were the engineering manager. The person asked a lot of lead in questions such as "can you do this". Seemed kind of odd. I was brought in and interviewed with a couple panels of engineers who asked me in-depth questions about my background and skills. They were looking for someone with a lot of generalist knowledge; not a specialist. Metal work, coatings, epoxies, plastics, environmental conditions and production support. It was quickly discovered that I was to be the one go-to person and the position was not even full time!
