      Entretien

First interview was on the phone with two people, one of them asking technical questions, the other asking questions about yourself and how you would incorporate their values on the way you work. They were nice and were impressed with my answers and the research I had done on the company prior to the interview. A day after the interview they said they wanted to move forward with my application and sent me a technical assessment. The instructions on the assessment weren't very clear and I had to reach out multiple times for clarification. They had a list of 14 requirements for that acessment and I met all of them. The next step would be meeting with someone from their team for a "code review". I was only able to schedule an appointment 2 weeks after I had already finished the assignment. The only thing I got asked to change on my code was a single line of code and after that he asked me if I wanted to do anything else with the app. I told him what I wanted to do and he wanted to "help" and do that in the last 30 minutes of the interview. If I knew that was gonna happen, I wouldn't have wasted my time applying for this company. I don't like having people watching me work, it makes me nervous and unable to think. Two days later I receive a noreply email saying they decided to move forward with other people. I can't believe all the time, effort and dedication I put into all the interviews and acessment and they couldn't even tell me a reason why?!?!?? Also, prepare the candidates. Tell them that even though they spent around 4/6 hours completing a technical assessment, they are also expected to write code with other person watching and breathing down their neck. Advice: please respect people's time, be upfront on what to expect on the day of the "code review", so if they don't like working with someone else watching, they won't waste their time applying for your company. Last but not least, don't just send a no reply email telling them they have been canceled. That is ugly and unprofessional. They spent time doing your acessment! Tell them the reason why. It's the least you can do after wasting their time.
