      Entretien pour Launch Engineer

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez SpaceX (Vandenberg AFB, CA) en juil. 2022

      Entretien

The interview process consisted of 1 phone call with the recruiter, then 2 phone calls with team members, an on-site 30 minute presentation, and a final director call. The process was over a month. The interviews were no different than other engineering interviews, i.e. tell me about your resume and then some technical questions. The on-site presentation was nerve wracking, but it was cool to meet the team in person. However, the final interview with the director was one of the worst interview experiences for me. Firstly, the director completely blew off my interview, and then the recruiter calls me after and asks to reschedule for 5 that afternoon. Bear in mind, I’m working and took time off to do this, so now I’m pretty much missing a half day. Then the interview comes and the director interrupted me multiple times, asked me technical scenario questions based on their designs so I had no context, and then misinterpreted a question I had asked and said, “Don’t get ahead of yourself bud”. I knew then I didn’t get the job after 5 interviews and many hours of preparation just because of an upset and unprofessional recruiter. Overall, I was excited to get the job after the on-site, seeing their products, and meeting the team I would work. But there a few red flags. There is no interpersonal connection on interviews, they don’t care what kind of person you are like or about “culture fit”. The coordinating process was strung out and required me to email and text to keep things coordinated and on track. Don’t take an interview on a Friday, rarely is someone in a good mood on that day and I probably didn’t get the job because of a single person out of 10 people I talked to.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

If a technician dropped a wrench on a pressurized line, what could you do to validate that it was okay or not okay to use? How does a strain gauge work? Tell me how you could prevent corrosion between two components made of different metals.

interview process was long and tedious. started with a recruiter screening, minimal technical questions, then moved to a hiring manager technical interview, following this was a technical presentation to a panel of engineers, i was then brought on site for an interview which included another pannel interview, site walkaround and questioning, then a written multiple choise mechanical assessmnet.

      Entretien

The first round was a technical interview with lots of rapid fire technical questions. It was over the phone which made it hard to stop and think about how to answer each question.
