J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez SoftPoint (Scottsdale, AZ) en oct. 2024
Entretien
I recently went through the interview process for a React Developer role at SoftPoint, and unfortunately, my experience left me disappointed. The initial stages of the process were positive; the interviewers seemed genuinely interested in my skills and background, and I received good feedback on my coding challenge. I was excited about the opportunity to contribute to SoftPoint’s projects and was even willing to join at a lower-than-market salary to make it work.
However, the offer I received was significantly below the industry average for even junior-level roles. When I tried to discuss a reasonable adjustment, I was told the company would cover my commute costs as a compromise. I believed we’d reached an understanding, but shortly after, I was informed that the offer had been withdrawn due to my “lack of experience”—despite my extensive, relevant background, which had been discussed and accepted in earlier stages.
It’s disappointing to feel undervalued and downplayed despite being flexible and eager to join the team. I understand budget constraints, but transparent communication and a fair offer are essential in building a respectful employer-candidate relationship. For future candidates, I hope SoftPoint can offer a clearer process with compensation that reflects the role and market standards.
P.S. Negotiating terms of employment is a standard part of the hiring process, and my goal was simply to make the offer more reasonable and feasible. Offering $55,000 to an intermediate developer is well below market standards. Furthermore, if I truly wasn’t qualified for the role, it’s unclear why I received an offer the same day as my interview. This contradiction only adds to my disappointment in the overall process.
The fact that candidates put misleading information on Glassdoor is regrettable. The candidate was continuously adding conditions to employment and was not qualified for the role. We hope your future activities are filled with success.
