You apply online, someone then rings you from their head office in Golborne, you are booked in to attend an assessment centre where a one to one interview takes place at the end of it and I believe there is another one with the store manager of the store you want to work in if you make it to the next stage. I personally found the assessment to be pretty average with the same old 'oh we are different from other companies because of our values etc' nonsense at the beginning made by a member of the head office team who clearly got their promotion for reasons other than intellect. There were a few members of senior management along with store managers present and you had to do some silly cringe worthy tasks throughout with the final once being you selling an item given to you by the person heading the event. After that was over we were driven in manager's and some of the interviewee's cars to the nearest local store where we were shown around the store by one of the big guns from head office or so I believe. He told us how they are different to their competitors and the rest and we had a little chance to speak with staff at that store who did their best to pretend that they enjoyed their roles even though it clearly wasn't the case judging some of their reactions after. We were then told to sit on a sofa of our choice and wait before we were then called over by different store managers and had a one to one interview which consisted of the same old competency based questions that you usually get. I am not so annoyed that I didn't pass the interview than I am about how incompetent the recruitment team along with the person heading it are, they clearly don't want to engage with you properly over feedback and some of the reasons for you not getting the job by store managers are just plain pathetic. I feel its a company where if your face doesn't fit then you are out of the door fast, I visited a store in another part of the country and found that as it was almost empty during the middle of a weekday (as is the case with most retailers out there especially in retail parks) the sales assistants were desperate to get my details and then whispering amongst themselves when they thought me and my friend weren't listening and comparing notes with the odd dirty look even thrown in and an assistant managers that didn't seem too pleased that me and the other customer their weren't interested. I can see how people leave negative reviews about this company on here and how the occasional response from the person heading recruitment is just given so it looks like they are actually listening when they are just keeping up appearances. Luckily I got work a little while after this and am glad I didn't get a job working for this lot.

Hi, First of all I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for such in depth feedback. It's such a shame & a quite disheartening that you didn't enjoy the day, as we got some fantastic feedback from candidates who attended the day too. We work extremely hard to keep the day as relaxed as possible (as everyone knows, the standard one to one interview can be pretty intimidating and intense), but I guess assessment days aren't for everyone. I would welcome any constructive feedback for the recruitment assessments in future, feel free to send over an email or just call to share your thoughts? In regards to feedback after the day, the talent team will attempt to give constructive feedback following on from the management interview, i'd be keen to understand the feedback you were given and I can investigate this a little further for you? If you would kindly send over the details of the store you visited after your assessment, that you also weren't impressed with, I will pass on your feedback to the relevant Store Manager & Regional. As ever, customer feedback is what helps Sofology continuously make improvements, whether that be our potential new talent, our current employees, or customers who are shopping for their lovely new sofa. We listen, we care & we will absolutely do our best to act on any feedback given. Congratulations on your new role wherever it may be, I wish you the best of luck in your new career! My details should you want to get in touch... stacey.williams@sofology.co.uk - 01942 296 484. Take care! Stacey Williams

Very easy interview, lasted about 3 hours maybe. The managers that interviewed me where very welcoming and friendly. There was about 7 people in my interview (because it was a group interview) and each of us had to talk for 2 minutes or longer about a passion we have (the topic of our passion could not be about work or family). After everyone had talked about their passion we were given about 10 minutes to walk around the store and pick a sofa we liked to sell to one of the mangers interviewing us. After this the managers went away and decided who would continue onto the interview stage. 4 people out of the 7, me being on of them continued onto the interview stage. They asked questions like "tell me about a time you helped boost morale around your work place", "tell me about a time you experienced good customer service" and "tell me about a time when you challenged the status quo" there were a few more questions but I cant really remember them. My experience was overall really good I left the interview feeling confident as I felt the interview went really well as they seemed to like my speech about my passion, my selling techniques and my answers in the interview but unfortunately it's been about 3 days since the interview and I haven't heard back from them which makes me believe that I was not successful which is sad because I really liked the company and it seemed like a good place to work. I think going to give it another few days and if they don't reply I might email or ring them. I'm not really surprised that they haven't replied because many people on here have said they don't reply which is a real shame as it makes me feel like I've wasted my time going to an interview to not get any feedback.

Sofology got in touch to say I had secured an interview which was great and I was asked to select an interview time. I received an email confirming my interview time and date and was looking forward to preparing for the day. A few days later I received an email to say my interview had been cancelled with no explanation. 10 minutes later I received another email saying they'd like to invite me to an assessment centre on the same day but 2 hours earlier than the original time. Having already made arrangements to assist a family member to a hospital appointment that day after confirming my original interview a few days earlier, I now won't be able to attend the interview. I'm disappointed with the lack of organisation but think maybe it was a blessing in disguise.

Hi Thank you so much for getting in touch. The post does mention that you have had an interview in July. I believe that no interviews have been held for the position you have applied for as of yet. They will be held on the 26th & 27th July and we would love to see all applicants there on the 2 days available at 12 noon. Please contact me to re-arrange your interview directly if you haven't already. We have tried to make any re-scheduled interviews as close to the original time as possible. I am truly sorry if these times are unsuitable for you. I'd love to hear from you - stacey.williams@sofology.co.uk Kindest Regards Stacey Williams
