Its a length and rigorous process because they want to have the best candidates. The interview process is designed such that they evaluate your skills pertaining to the role you applied. There are multiple panel interviews where they assess your communication , presentations, customer facing skills. Technology is not really important as you are assessed on the technology you are comfortable with
