      Entretien

Started with a phone screening, then a meeting with a recruiter for fit. Next was a behavioral interview with the hiring manager, followed up with a take home technical exercise and then a panel interview. Panel interview was made up of a 10-15 minute presentation/demo of your work and then a quick dive into the code/explanation of decisions, then round robin behavioral questions and scenarios practice. Heard back from recruiter 2 days later with an offer. Up to this point, I had nothing but positive experiences, it’s obvious everyone that works here is very smart, committed, and efficient. It was also obvious that the expectations of work and commitment didn’t align with my goals, PTO was less than my current job and much less than the offer I accepted. The offer itself was very fair, incentive was based heavily around bonuses which makes sense for a consulting role. I view the experience as negative though because after I got the offer I met with the manager to be, he contradicted some of what the recruiter told me (PTO policies, work expectations, and future rewards) to the point that I felt I’d been intentionally deceived by the recruiter. I really appreciated the future managers honesty and it let me know this wasn’t the role for me. I declined the offer, and when asked even gave them a referral and a specific reason (I said PTO and work expectations not aligning with my family commitments). I then received the single most unprofessional email I’ve ever received, lampooning my values and my decision while trying to pressure me to take a role still. It really made me feel like dodged a bullet, seriously borderline abusive email. Solid competitive pay, potential upside for people who love to work a ton, possible culture challenges. Benefits are ok, but could be improved. FYI if you can get this you can get something else, I got an offer for more pay, more freedom, and more collaboration two days later.
