I had 2 rounds of interviews. The interview process was painfully slow, and took about 4 weeks from end to end. They didn't get back to me on the feedback and I had to follow up. They offered a position that was lower than my current position and didn't have feedback as to why they did so. The feedback when specifically asked was as generic as the interview itself!
The first interview by itself was a signal. I felt I was interviewed by an inexperienced person who didn't understand my skills or background. The interviewer was beating around the bush when I asked about their current engagements. There was nothing that was related to my skill however they were open to me starting a practice within the organisation hence I thought it was a good opportunity!
The second interview was way too generic. The typical "what are your assets/ strengths" kind of questions. It didn't feel like they had a job description in mind for this role! There wasn't one shared with me as I was contacted by the recruiter. After the interview, I still wonder what I was assessed on so I wasn't surprised that they didn't have specific feedback!
Given that they didn't have any opportunities for my skills and possibly had no budget to fund a practice, it felt like they were trying to fit me in where I would be expected to perform any role that their clients possibly demand! I have worked for many consulting companies and ran my own for 5 years and understand many consulting companies need a "Jack of all" kind of person however in my opinion Slalom clearly lacks a vision / USP in the competitive consulting market.
I was feeling miserable with the whole interview process and I happened to read an honest negative review by a person who had left the company as a Principal in Slalom Local( the position I would have been hired for). I can resonate with everything that was written there and it validates what I was feeling throughout my interview process. I am so relieved that I dodged the bullet!
