Everyone seemed really nice and encouraging but technical prowess is not the primary concern. You absolutely must be obsessed with Slalom and claim to be drinking the kool aid for them to want you. Employees regularly talk about how they are "drinking the kool aid", which should have been my first red flag. The market is really hot right now, and I am super educated and have worked in consulting before, but they were super wishy-washy about hiring me. The weirdest part is that the recruiter kept telling me how much they liked me, but after three interviews I was told that I should look into my other options on the table and if I was interested to reach back out. What? I had three interviews so obviously I was interested, but I am not going to be obsessed with the company after some interviews. True respect takes time actually working at a company. Super strange experience and the company culture was very cultish. There was also a lack of sincerity from the recruiter. For example, when we had the conversation about me reaching back out if I was truly interested he had three messages: we have lost work in the area, we might be able to delay hiring you but you wouldn't want that (super presumptive), and there are other people with your skills we are looking at who are more interested in Slalom. Any one of those would have been fine, but all three seemed disingenuous and like they were just making excuses for not having enough work in the area and me not immediately drinking the kool aid. My negative review is not because the interview was hard and I am disgruntled. In fact, the interview was quite easy. My negative review is because Slalom has a brogrammer and cult-like culture masquerading as competence.
