I was contacted by a recruiter through LinkedIn for an iOS position at SkipTheDishes.
The initial recruiter screening experience could have been better. The conversation felt a bit disconnected, and there were some communication challenges during the call. I also felt the recruiter had limited clarity around the overall interview process and expectations.
I was initially told the next round would be a manager-style behavioural interview, but the actual interview ended up being a combination of behavioural and technical questions. Having clearer expectations beforehand would have helped me prepare appropriately.
The technical interview experience was also not what I expected for a senior iOS role. Some of the discussion felt more focused on textbook-style answers rather than practical, real-world engineering experience and trade-offs. I would have appreciated a deeper discussion around architecture, scalability, problem-solving, and experiences building production iOS applications.
Overall, I think the hiring process could improve with better communication, clearer interview expectations, and a more practical technical evaluation approach.
