This was an interview for a regular Sales Person.
No add or phone call. Just saw sign in store window and applied.
Dropped off Resume with Application.
I was called and set up an interview with the Store Manager.
I wore business casual Slacks and a Blouse. Be doing that I fit right in. I also checked out the Web Site and saw that this is the Table Top industry. This involves China, glass, personal awards and gifts. Go to the Web Site and also learn about the company’s culture. That made a big difference too in the interview.
The interview went well and was asked about my retail background that included specialty ad on items, luxury items, and gifts too.
Interview took an hour and was given the feeling that if all my references checked out I would be hired at the end of the week.
Because the interview took so long I felt there was a lot of interest.
But a week came and went and I never heard anything so I figured they moved on.
Then I received a call that said I was still being considered the week after. The managers were waiting to make a decision I was told.
I was finally made an offer but by that time after three weeks I moved on and just said thank you but I have already taken another position.
This experience was very unusual I thought. I have retail management experience but have never seen this. Later I learned that someone else I know interviewed for the same position and was told the same thing. Her interview took an hour too. She felt the same way.
The company has very friendly people and I think would be a great place to work. But management does things slow. That concerned me for a future and the company has closed some stores.
If you interview keep you job search going until you are sure you are hired and it is what you want to do.
