Was a fairly quick process from interview offer to first interview over Skype. Recruiter was friendly made the everything feel comfortable. One issue: they weren't able to answer a lot of my questions that I had about the position. It was a new role and they were fairly open about it being defined by the person they hired and figuring out the needs of the team as they go. I kind of pressed for more info but they just didn't have any.

Unfortunately a recruiter based out of the Netherlands was very disrespectful. When I shared about wanting to explore the opportunity and see if there is a fit with the team, the recruiter responded with "with regards to fit, that is our job to decide not yours." That was a very unnecessary comment. It goes without saying that the decision to move forward with a candidate lies with the company, but an interview is also a two-way conversation for a candidate to also learn about the company and role. When it was time for me to ask questions, I asked if the hiring manager was looking out for a specific type of candidate so I could understand what kind of person would succeed in the team. The response: "Everything is written in the job description." The point of letting candidates ask questions is to learn more about the role beyond the job description, no? The lack of basic respect left such a bad impression, please do better.
