Zoom interview with the assistant county executive officer, deputy branch manager of Shasta County Health and Human Services, and deputy county executive officer. None of the people present had any expertise in communications, marketing, public relations, or the like, so their questions were pretty elementary and had little to do with what a public information officer actually does in most cases. They were very much not forthcoming when confronted with questions about their ongoing public relation scandals and seemed completely unprepared for a candidate who had actually done their homework on the county. Interview was mid-October, and then radio silence for a month. After the second email to them, I was notified that the position had been filled. Not very promising for someone looking for a courteous and professional workplace.
