      Entretien

I applied online, and had a call scheduled with someone in product. I never heard back which is fine, but unprofessional to spend an hour with someone on the phone then to never hear back.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Product management experience questions, it seemed like they were interested in hearing that I had experience in their exact flavor of agile and kept pressing on specific aspects. Which was a bit of a red flag, product management while overarching has similar traits but it just seemed like their tactics were aggressive for no reason.

      1) Phone Screening 2) PM Phone Screening 3) 1st Onsite + Case Study The case was a prompt on the job: Product Manager Internal Tools. The prompt specifically requested to think from the perspective of a product manager of internal tools and to: - Facilitate a backlog grooming session - Create and prioritize work - Consider goals and effort of work - Communicate clearly My preparation and research was solely based around being an internal tools PM. However, when inquired about how I would help customers better pick a shirt on fit--to minimize the issue of customers picking the incorrect fit--the conversation pushed forward with a client facing solution. Most of the conversation progressed around front-end solutions / questions which had little to no correlation to the internal tool aspect of the job / requirements. --- Issues / Red Flags: --- The case was a prompt for facilitating a "backlog grooming" session. When trying to facilitate a portion of the case to quickly generate a backlog--which follows an agile process--this was quickly frowned upon. Instead the focus was on "generating enough work for a sprint". From working experience and coaching / mentoring teams for 3+ years with Agile Methodology and Scrum Framework, this was by far not a backlog grooming session nor contained the right people for a grooming session. Instead this meeting was, in true form, a case discussion or ideation of features / work. Another issue was half way through the presentation, two of the interviewers started to pull out their phones and check emails and/or facebook. This was extremely rude and inconsiderate. Either the interview should have been cut short or they should not have been part of the panel. I've never experienced such disrespect from upper management in any interview--ever! However, the Product Manager (hiring manager) did not pull out their phone and was engaged in the entire interview. The last issue came up when inquired how the interview went. I was asked and promptly gave my response being open and honest about my performance. Following my response I was given a "yea". No empathy was shown--either genuine or fake. Overall: The team did not know how to properly build a case study and assess someone based on the given case. The group interview widely deviated from the "as a PM of Internal Tools" and case prompt, and most of the management in the room were very disrespectful and showed little to no empathy. The hiring manager, PM, is extremely thoughtful, caring, and highly knowledgeable. The only person who was the highlight of the entire interview process.
