      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Ross Stores (New York, NY) en juin 2016

      Entretien

I was recruited into the application process through LinkedIn and made to feel that I was a high level prospect for the role because I have a very similar function with my current employer. Being from South Jersey I had to travel two hours into NYC to attend the interview, which was in an off site location adjacent to the NY Buying Office. I came prepared to interview with six individuals as instructed by email communication. The recruiter arrived nearly ten minutes late and our interview abruptly ended when the next in line tapped on the door only twenty minutes later. Conversation was very friendly and professional. I came to find that the position they asked me to apply for was not the position I was interviewing for but that did not affect the interview, though it threw me off a bit. The recruiter asked my salary info and then a manager entered to give her interview. The two manager interviews went well; I was able to show samples of my work and have inteligible conversations about how I could improve business and contribute to the company's growth. We discussed a few things outside of the professional sphere as well. In short I had a very positive feeling about how the process was coming along. Unfortunately, however, the recruiter called me at lunch claiming that the other three interviewers were "called to a big meeting" and would be unable to attend my interviews. After having traveled into the city and spent money on a new suit, train fare, and an overnight stay in an overpriced town, I felt distraught. My interview seemed to be a success, and I could not think of any glaring errors I would have made to warrant cutting the process short so suddenly. Honestly, I still struggle to conjure any possibilities. I felt that this showed a lack of professionalism on Ross' part, especially when I received my rejection email nearly a full week later. To me this behavior seemed erradic and phony considering I was recruited into the process to begin with
