The interview process was weird. I interviewed with 2 people initially (one was 15 mins late into the interview)... I was asked questions but was not really told the exact job description of what the position required, even after asking. The interview was scattered and I felt as though I was leading the interview in order to keep questions rolling and gain the answers I needed. 2 hours after the interview, I was verbally offered the position. They told me the salary and I wanted to negotiate, as it was extremely low. I had to reach back out after a couple of days (she said me asking for a negotiation was a decline, when in reality I just expected an open conversation) and she said she would need me to complete a writing sample (this was not in the initial interview or before I was offered the position). She also stated that she would need me to talk to someone else to see if they could justify giving me more money as if I wasn’t worth even $20/hr. “We will have to see if we can verify giving you more money.” After everything and about 2 weeks of back and forth with extra people, she said they could not raise the offer rate. (The average salary for this position is $60k) I declined the offer and will move on to a more professional company. I was made to feel incompetent, worthless, and diminished in the process.
