J'ai passé un entretien chez Roku (Manchester, Angleterre)
Entretien
I was scheduled for technical interview soon after initial screening. The interviewer was leading their Appsec team and he came in with the mindset of rejecting me. He was not even prepared and did not know what to ask. In the schedule email there was a Hackerrank link shared and I was told I will be getting code review exercises. The interviewer did not even open the link nor mentioned anything about it. He wasn’t even looking into my eyes the entire interview and the questions he asked were too basic and kind of insult to my skills. For example he asked the following: How do you set http proxy in mobile phones? What is a http proxy server? Anyway I aced all the questions he asked. Got an email next day that they are not proceeding with my application. When I asked for feedback the recruiter replied that I do not have development experience (I do have but I have worked mostly in Security). I could have proven my coding skills only if he had asked or assessed my coding skills on Hackerrank. That role was not even for a developer but the candidate should have known scripting to automate CICD pipelines. If you are a person of color, I’d suggest to dodge the bullet and look somewhere else.
