      Entretien pour Supply Chain Manager

      5 mars 2015
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      Madison, WI
      Offre refusée
      Expérience positive
      Entretien facile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un établissement d'enseignement supérieur ou universitaire. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez RockAuto (Madison, WI) en févr. 2015

      Entretien

I applied online first. Within a few days we started a chain of emails that consisted of preliminary questions and some basic explanations of things on my resume resume. Next I was emailed a worksheet of automotive information to research, fill out, and send back. Next I was invited for a phone interview, this took between 45 minutes in an hour. First we discussed exposure and experience with 1. Automotive 2. Computer skills 3. Remembering and retaining info 4. Balancing demands. Next general questions are asked such as what was your worst job? How do you handle a difficult social situation? Sooner after i was invited for an onsite interview. The office was very nice and the staff that I spoke with were all very kind. Since they primarily operate through customer service and that is done via e-mail and phone, the dress code is very casual. The onsite interview went through similar questions as the phone interview, elaborated on why I wanted to work for RockAuto and how particular strengths of mine applied to the job. After numerous questions, I asked extensively about the job details including work times, hourly vs salary, benefits, etc. The conclusion of the interview consisted of a logic worksheet that was explained to me, no time limit was set, turn it in and you're free to go when you're through. Within a week i was e-mailed with an offer. They were very kind to give me an extension and answer further questions of mine. In short, the company has you work several weeks in customer service during training, transitioning then out of irregular hours and into the supply chain manager role. The position is hourly, performance-based pay levels, and rather than benefits the company offers quarterly bonuses. I would recommend RockAuto certainly, I declined the offer due to a need for benefits and the pursuit of a salaried position. They are all very kind, easy to talk to, and exceptional at answering questions and being forward with you.

You sit in a room with the HR person and then have an interview with a manager from the department afterwards. Then you take a logic test. Once completed, you get taken to lunch at a local restaurant, and you have a final interview/discussion with the HR guy again to go over any unanswered questions.

Questionnaire (research car trivia), then phone screen, then on-site. For the on-site, it's an all-day affair: you meet the operations manager, a team lead, and the finance guy, you do a quick logic test, and then you go for lunch with two more colleagues and wrap up with the operations manager. The phone screen and questionnaire were straightforward: as long as you can do basic research, have some answers in your arsenal for a fairly standard set of interview questions and know how to build rapport with people, you'll do fine. The on-site is a long day. There were no "bad cop" interviewers - the operations manager in particular is a friendly and relaxed guy who puts you at ease - but you do three hours of interviews (no hard questions, but make sure you've familiarized yourself with how a supply chain operates beforehand) before your logic test, and so although I'm usually exceptional at tests of that nature, I'm pretty sure I crashed out on their math question (after talking up my math skills!) which on any other day would have been a breeze. By the time I had my wrap-up interview with the ops manager, my brain was fried and I had little to say. I didn't receive an offer, and nor was I expecting one. So: more than anything else, get a good night's sleep before you go to this interview, and steel yourself for a thorough test. One thing: benefits for this position are better if you're young and free of family obligations. (There is a health plan, but a short waiting period before it kicks in, which would have made it near-impossible for me to accept an offer were I given one.) Pay and bonuses are, however, extremely attractive. Also, you will be expected to meet probationary metrics in your first few months of employment (and later, but monitored differently): they seem a little arbitrary at first glance, but RockAuto's alarming growth stats speak for themselves, and everything is clearly explained during the interview. Finally, this job is not for you if you do not have an engineering or spatial brain: it's really all about spatial thinking.

I was contacted by their hr department through email asking if I would be interested in this position. I sent my resume and cover letter. They sent an automotive questionnaire, I filled it up that day and sent it back (it was quite easy). Next they scheduled a phone interview.
