      Entretien pour Project Manager

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Rivian (Irvine, CA)

      Entretien

A "technical" recruiter (*this does NOT violate glassdoor terms*) called me (2 min late). It was crystal clear from the beginning of the interview she had just picked up my resume and application; she was entirely unfamiliar with who I was. As she asked a banal question to break the ice - you know, "What qualifies you?" - I could hear her mind actively trying to play catchup. I don't think she hear 1/4th what I said. Then she said she would tell me about the position, and it was painfully obvious she was reading from a rote script. She asked why I selected Rivian, which is a question designed to gauge enthusiasm and familiarity... And while my answer sprung effervescently, designed to elicit some sort of glowing response from her, there was nothing but uncomfortable silence. I had to tell her I was done. She may have fallen asleep or was tending to her pet. This 30 min interview was done within 15 minutes. Assuming I was a total accident and should never have been interviewed, she still should have comported herself with the energy, familiarity and locution of an informed, professional and attentive recruiter. Instead, she is a perfect archetype of the HR (tech) recruiter. Zero effort to really understand the position - which requires deftness in both the technical element and operations + admin + leadership. She was obviously only looking for a certain certification or... ? My colleagues all said, "You dodged a bullet." It's obvious Rivian is mismanaging a great deal if they can't even get right the initial gate keeper for new hires (which then sets the tone for company culture). Oh, and this recruiter has the insufferable ego to run a website offering advice to prospective applicants. Really now. Blind leading the blind.

Recruiter interview, then hiring manager, then met with the team individually. There were about 5 or 6 team members. Friendly folks, casual and welcoming. It was conversational. They were looking for culture fit first and foremost.

What a disorganized process and a bunch of unprofessional interviewers!! First off, there was a lot of back and forth just to set up interviews across time zones. There was a dedicated person to schedule those interviews, called a "Candidate Experience Partner", but unfortunately the whole experience was mediocre where I had to point out wrong interview times quite a few times. Additionally, there was an incidence where one of the interviewers scheduled me for another interview the next day because he didn't feel he had enough time to interview me during our first call.. Then, 15 minutes before that second interview, he asked for the interview to be rescheduled. Then once we had that second interview, he asked the same exact questions, and we ended the interview after exactly 18 minutes! And he neither took notes in the first interview nor in the second interview. Wow, you hear that deadlines at Rivian are "yesterday" from four interviewers throughout the interview process, then you figure out where that time is actually wasted! Also, I was asked to conduct a case study, and I put a lot of time in it. Of course, as usual, you're asked not to spend more than a couple of hours on it but it ends up taking days to work through it and prepare a presentation. Then, you present, and get great feedback right on the spot, but then you never hear from them again!
