There was about 10 of us when I arrived, I took the last day slot of the recruitment event so Im assuming thats why it was significantly less than previous days (people have posted up to 30 people). I suggest going to river island and seeing how they dress if you are not sure - its usually quite cool/urban; black jeans, trainers, and a cute top. i wore a high neck top because its currently on trend. they really do ask to see your passport/birth certificate and dont just quickly scan it they READ it so don't assume its something you can bypass if you forget. we went in to what looked like a spacious locker room with tables and chairs set up. we were asked to introduce ourselves, age, what we currently do etc. i purposely spoke first just so that even if you dont get it (like me lol) they will remember that you are confident. everyone was quiet in my group i dont even know if anyone was hired (the guy even said one group he hired nobody). then we were asked why we wanted to work with river island. dont say something cliche or robotic. talk about the atmosphere, the people/team etc. two tasks we had were 1) to create an outfit for a celebrity in our group 2) Taken on the shop floor to interact with a "customer" (it was just another staff member so dont panic). The first one was fun. We only had five minutes and we had a male celebrity for some music festival (cant remember his name). When we came back and talked about it and i spoke first but from a teams perspective (we/our). he loved it and had no critiques. the other group had critiques but they also had a woman which is much broader than a mans scope of fashion. then we had to go on the shop floor and were taken one by one to interact. i was asked for a suit for her husband for a party but casual so no black. i gave her a grey suit and paired it with a pink long sleeve t shirt and talked about colours, trends etc. the guy said "yep thats fine" and it was probably no longer than 2 minutes. as we walked back he told me well done and i did great. and thats it. im guessing mine was a lot easier than others because we werent asked about customer service and i wish they did because i was prepared for that. i honestly was sure i had gotten it because he was happy with my answers - but i think i didnt get it because i had booked a holiday outside of the country during the time of when the induction would probably be - so i think it was too close for them to hire me knowing that someone else would be available. bottom line is 1- do your research 2- be confident and speak up thats the whole point of a group interview 3 - try and get with fashion trends 4 - relaaaxxxx they know when you are nervous and if a group of random people make you uneasy, then you wouldnt seem fit on the shop floor.

Pretty simple, wanted to know about availability, any previous experience within the retail industry and what about the company I knew about. Had some basic experience questions that the star technique comes in handy for!
