Red Hat seems like a great place to work. For the most part, the people I interviewed with seemed like they would be great coworkers, leaders, and mentors. The interviews were easy and the questions were thoughtful and open-ended. However, the overall interview process here was very, very frustrating. I did 10 interviews on 7 different days, scheduled by 3 coordinators from HR who didn't seem to communicate much with each other. In 2 cases the interviewer forgot about our appointment, and rescheduled for another day/time after I had already taken time off work. One interviewer forgot our appointment and called me from her home while I was AT Red Hat to meet her. She had no questions prepared and didn't seem interested in talking to me at all. I later found out through LinkedIn that they had already hired from within, but they didn't tell me and for some reason continued to schedule interviews with me? I don't mind that they went with another candidate, but I was bending over backwards for vacation time at my current job to make the interviews happen, and all the while there was someone already working in the position I was applying for. About three weeks after my last interview I got a very short email stating that I did not get the job, with no further explanation. Although Red Hat seems like a great place to work, my experience with HR was overwhelmingly negative and I will not be applying again.
