Submitted CV through recruitment agency.
15 minute Skype call with recruiter
- Why this company and why this role
- Tell me a time someone's disagreed with you and you've had to bring them around to your way of thinking.
- Describe your degree in the simplest possible terms
Assessment centre in Hull:
- 2 group exercises: first one was to sort pictures into chronological order when you can't look at other peoples photos. Second was to come up with a plan to pitch to board of directors after reports of your product failing - they interrupt your pitch almost as soon as you start with aggressive questions. Make sure you think about the bigger picture of how to deal with the PR and consumers
- In tray exercise - standard except they say you have 35 minutes, come in with 10 minutes left and give you another email, and then only give you 5 of the remaining 10 minutes
- Numerical reasoning test - 35 minutes, standard
- Competency interview - about 7 questions so make sure you have about 7 stories not the standard 3! Then at end asked why this company and role, what's something that one of our brands has done lately that impressed you
- Fact finding exercise
Overall staff were really aggressive throughout the entire day and had clearly been briefed to try to trip you up as much as possible. Didn't try to sell the company at all. They have a fancy new innovation centre but said there wasn't time for a tour - clearly impressing us with the company wasn't one of their priorities.
Questions d'entretien [4]
Question 1
Tell me about a setback you've had and how you dealt with it
Tell me about a time when you've used your own hard work and imagination to complete a project - must be a long term project, they don't just want a singular task you completed

The day consisted of several tasks: A group task, an in-tray exercise, a numerical test, a competency-based interview, and a fact-finding exercise. Moreover, though we didn't have one, the assessors also mentioned that sometimes a tour-site would be given.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
The interview focused heavily on demonstrating competencies, such as talking about a time you've resolved a conflict or done something outside of your comfort zone. The interviewers also referred back to tasks carried out earlier in the day, so try to think after each task about what went well and what you could've improved on.
