Had three interviews, with an increasingly bad experience. I write this review so that someone considering this company will decide against it.
TLDR; treats interviewees very poorly. Went out of my way to interview both remote and in-person. No code tests were even give. Surprise CEO interview exposed their leadership as unprofessional, uncaring, and of a very old-school mindset despite the "REBEL" name. Stay far away.
The first interview was a standard HR interview done remote, and went fine.
It took around a week and a half before I heard back from HR. The second interview got scheduled, but they wanted me to come in person. Their location is around 2.5 hours from me, which is not a bad drive for a one-off interview and thought it was a positive sign.
When I arrived, instead of the direct manager I was to initially interview with I'm now being interviewed by the CEO and the HR team from the previous interview. Now, a CEO interviewing you shouldn't be an issue especially for a company of smaller size, but due to his attitude and unprofessional demeanor it took a turn for the worst here.
He had no idea what position I was interviewing for. When asking about my background and thoughts on certain questions he would constantly interrupt me mid-answer. Towards the end, he belittled my previous non-technical experience, which is not even a large part of my resume but kept on there as a reference of my work history, and completely disregarded my technical experience for an entry-level role. Afterwards, he wanted me to do another remote interview with someone who's not in office. I agree, despite the not-so-great current interview. All in all, it took another two weeks for them to get back to me, and only because I emailed them back requesting a final answer.
I wouldn't normally waste words on a poor interview experience. But I'm making an exception for Rebel because of the complete disregard they had for someone who went out of his way to interview. The job market is good right now; they should really treat interviewees with more respect to their time and energy.
