J'ai postulé via un recruteur. J'ai passé un entretien chez RPStaffing (Washington, DC) en janv. 2020

      Entretien

I was contacted on LinkedIn by someone from RP Staffing about a position working in international development. This got my attention, because I was very much looking for a job in this field after graduating from my Master's program. (This all happened in 2019, but I am posting about it now.) They had a detailed description of what it would be like but did not name the organization. I went into their office for an interview, and the did a full bait and switch on me. I do not believe there ever existed a position for which they described, they just said what they needed to in order to lure me into their office. Instead, they wanted me to accept an entry-level job in a US-based academic organization. Totally unrelated to my career interests. I interviewed with two people - one younger woman was nice, but the other guy was just so rude and arrogant. He told me, "you don't want to work in international development. you should do this job instead." They also tried giving me a lesson about being careful not to burn any bridges in this city because everyone knows each other. After the interview was over, they began collecting my info and scanning my passport and such. I wish I would have just walked out of there instead of letting them take my information down. Please don't waste your time here. There are other, better staffing agencies in DC with employees who treat you with respect.

      Question 1

They didn't ask me much, they just tried convincing me to accept a job that I didn't apply for.

I’m sorry to hear you did not have a favorable interaction with our team. The purpose of interviews are to determine and explore your skill set as it relates to our openings, and client needs. If we find you may be a better match for another opportunity after exploring your background, we may share something different than where we started. Regardless, it seems as if you were set on International Relations only, even though the job may have not matched your skill set. We did have other openings which did fit your skills but obviously they did not accommodate your desires.
